There was magnificent weather for the second day of the race.;. There was a very large attendance. The totalisator handled £27,804, as against £23,773 for the second day of last year, making a (otal of £52,203, against £40,004 fast year. Results:

Time, 1.15 2-5. NOTES ON THE MEETING. TARANAKFS ROYAL INXINGS By Telegraph.—From "Moturoa." The Taranaki horses had a royal innings a.t Wanganui to-day, Depredation, Rcwi Poto, and Antwerp winning races, while Crawford, Welcome Nugget, Nita, Hood, and Lacy Amai gained plnee;iioney. Antwerp paid the best dividend of the day. Mia Cara avd Rangitero were the favori'cs in the Owen Handicap, and the former began best but failed to stall off Rangitero, who finished best.

Splendent was stiongly supported for the Railway Hack, but was never sightid. Gaycinm was always neat the front and won very easily. Golden Mar.oh and Pursefiller let their '•ackers down badly in the BrunswicK Hurdles. Austin and Vladian made all the pace, the latter winning handily at the finish.

Marton was a hot order in the Hack Steeplechase, leading all the way and winning easily. Nones and Depredation were backed in that order for the Higgie Handicap. Monlu ran into the lead six furlongs 'rom home, but Depredation passed him at the turn and lasted long enough to win narrowly fvom Nones, who finished fast.

Tim three top-weights monopolised the betting in the Moutoa Hack Handicap. Antwerp was in front at the end of two furlongs, and was never afterwards; headed, winning in l good styli l . Cleft finished a fast third.

The scratching* reduced the field for the Marangni Handicap, Rewi Poto being the .hottest favorite of the meeting. Worcester led Rewi Poto alnni; the back, but the favorite thci cleared out and won in hollow fashion from Welcome Nugget, who finished strongly.

Gang 'Awa, Fidelio, and Wa,pping wen, ihe best backed in the St. John's Hack Welte:'. Bivouac was oiifc first and was only caught on the post by Gang 'Aw.i, with Lady Multifid, who was blocked, almost in line, Fidelio was never prominent.

Wnnganui form suggests that Hylatus, Fidelio, and Lady Multilid should be well ill) porrr-d at Otaki to-day, and Tauiiu, Lady Louisa, Mahzoltov, and Taringamutu may be well backed in their engagements.
