OMATA CO-OP. DAIRY CO.
ANNUAL MEETING Tiie seventeenth annual meeting of the Omata Co-operative Dairy Company was held in the Town Hall, New Plymouth, on Saturday afternoon, Mr. P. Raill chairman of directors, presiding over a small attendance of suppliers, including a number of ladies. REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the chairman said that the directors had the pleasure of congratulating shareholders on having had a successful season. The output showed en increase of !)I,SIB lbs, valued at £0472 Ms 7d. This was very satisfactory as the increased output was primarily responsible in keeping down the cost of manufacture. The new manager', house had been erected at practically the price to which the directors had ' been i.fited. A new dam had been built at the factory at a cost of £45. This was a. permanent structure. On behalf of the. company, he thanked all those living near the factory, who had so freely and willingly assisted in giving their labor and tools at great inconvenience to themselves. Both the house and the dam were valuable assets to the company. There were now two vats in the factory, and a new cooler had been installed. The price received was a record one for the company. In fact, he thought that it was a record one for any butter fac tory. At all events he had not seen any balance sheet that beat it, and very few bad equalled it. In fact some cheese factories had paid out very little better, The, price had been very satisfactory, but it bad largely been counteracted by the high prices the farmer had to pay for everything he required. Indeed, had it not been for the high prices received, he did not know, judging by himself, how the farmers would get on. In concluding, he thanked his colleagues on the directorate for their able and loyal support, and he also thanked theii energetic secretary, who had met with a great misfortune in the loss of his books by fire. The speaker did not think that any one else would have brought the new hooks up to date in the time that he had. The motion was seconded by Mr. R. G. Knapman, and carried without any discussion. ELECTION. There were four nominations for the two vacancies caused by the retirement by rotation of Messrs. P. Raill and W. J. McKee. Messrs. J Garcia and F. F.. Morris were appointed scrutineers, and the election resulted as follows: W. J. McKee ".2, P. F. Raill 39 (elected), J. McAuley and F. 0. Jones were tiie other candidates.
The directors were, voted the same 'lonorarium as last year. Mr. C. T. Mills wa? re-elected auditor at the same fee as last year. Tn a lag to the balance sheet be stated that he demd it right to mak a separate report, an acount of the original hooks and vouchers having been los in the recent lire In making the audit, very little bad been taken for granted, and he expressed a complimentary word on the work of the secretary (Mr. Baily) in re-constrnefing so complete a so' of books for the year.
TIIF ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. Mace considered that the annunl meeting was held too late. If held earlier it would probably means a large attendance. On his motion, seconded by Mr. Meiter, it was resolved that tin 'books close on May 31, and that the annual meeting should he held not latei than the first Saturday in August of each year. GENERAL. Some discussion took place over the vagaries of the skim-milk weighers, but no action was taken CHAIRMAN OF DIRECTORS. At a subsequent meeting, Mr. W. J. MeKee was elected chairman oi directors.
