Chakwana waited on Interlude and .Jfiaoara until tlie liomc turn was reached, and then won nicely. Wrestler made hacks of a big field in the Maiden, running the distance smarter than Chakwana did in the previous race. After considerable trouble at the post, the Guineas field was despatched in straggling order. Elation and Sweet Tippcrary Retting away best and leading to the distance, where Bjorneborg came brilliantly, winning by n length. Pursefiller and Crawford were best supported in tlie Okehu Hurdles, but 'both got away badly. Marton and Vladian led all the way and fought out a great finish. Another surprise awaited backer? in the Gonville Hack Hurdles, Combustion was _voted a moral, but finished last. Golden March looked the winner at the turp, but the rank outsider in Record •won easily at the end. Gang Awa and Devotion carried most coin in the Putiki Hack Handicap, but. neither were prominent. Starengo led to the distance, where Fidelio passed him, but failed to stall ofl' Gaycium, who finished very strongly. Sedd-el Bahr, Square Deal, and Depredation were evenly backed in the Spring Handicap. Beltane immediately dashed to the front and ltd Rewi Poto and Depredation into the straight. The last named finished best, and won. all out, by a length from Beltane, who just beat Rewi Poto. Sedd-el Bahr and Square Deal finished close up. Ararat fell. Sixteen runners got away in good line in the Durie [lack Handicap. Hylatus ran into the lead at onee and won easily. Dood fell and appeared seriously injured. i
