AN INTERESTING iSHIP.
There is at present in Sydney liarbor a ship llyinjr the Chilian ensign which was nt one time one of the best-known vessels in the Australian trade. This is the old Shaw. ISavill, and Albion Company's sliip Nelson. ]n her day the Nelson was one of the smartest sailing vessels in the Home trade, and under Captain George Perriam made Wellington a regular port of call for many years. With the advent of steam the old ship had perforce to make way for the liners of the present day, and after many vicissitudes passed into the bands of a Chilian firm. She is at present the property of Oelckers Hermanns, of Valparaiso', Chili. Built at I'ort Ciasgow over 40 years ago the old ship has apparently many years of service still before her, and appears to be as pound as ever, On one occasion tile Nelson struck a rock outside Wellington Heads and was towed into port in a sinking condition. She was moored at the wharf, and after being pumped out was taken round to the patent slip for, repairs.
