Sir,—As a subscriber to the tov,n clock fund, I desire (as far as our Borough Council is concerned) to express the remark, "Halt the band," before sanctioning the request involving a substantial expenditure. A vote of the subscribers should be obtained in preference to the request of outsiders who: »ign asking that the original intention or the movement should 'be superseded —I am. etc., SECRETARY. ■RECRUITING. To the Editor. Sir,—Many appeals are appearing in uli newspapers just now pointing out the uigeney for enlisting. Can you inforn. me, Mr. Editor, if anyone has power to lntorni recruiting boards of the names of families who 'have several sons who have not so far offered their services? I know of a good few who are well-to-do and had shown great fighting powers with their batons during the late strike, so would you please answer my question. it am, etc., ' ENQUIRER. [Yes.—Ed.]
