COUNTER - ATTACKS KKIT'I.SED. AIiRODBOJIE : BOMB£SH ; - , London, Sept. 18. Sir Douglas ITaig reports:—The geaoral situation is unchanged. We improved our position northward of Martinpuich. Our minor ' attack last night eastward- of Courcelette was entirely successful and appreciably advanced our line. The Ciermans entered a trench westward of Moiuiuet farm under cover of heavy shelling. A counter-attack immediately drove them out. We took a furthei portion of the trench system southward of 'J'hiepval. The (Jermans at intervals during the night heavily shelled various points. Official.—A squadron of naval aeroplanes dropped many bombs on Sunday afternoon on the aerodrome at St. Denis.'
