THE EMPIRE.
TREMENDOUS TRIANGLE TRIUMPH "BULLETS AND BROWN EYES.'< WILLIAM DESMOND AND BESSIE BARRISCALE. The Triangle K.B. "feature" drama, ''Bullets and Brown Eyes," which will be screened for the first time at- the Empire Theatre to-night is a superbly staged romantic enactment with a erne of surpassing charm. The story may be placed in the same category as "The Prisoner of Zenda" and "Rupert of Hentzau." The plot is skilfully constructed, and the incidents embody those elements in which excitement, adventure and love are involved in a realistic manner. The happenings are represented as taking place at the present period, and there an a number of up-to-date notions, including weird-looking armoureu motor cars and motor cycle scouts. The battle scenes are on a stupendous scale, and are vivid enough to. cam conviction. The play is sumptuously mounted, and altogether the production ranks as one of the best of its type shown for some time past. According to the story Prince Boris (impersonated by Wra. Desmond), with a party of Hussars, makes a retaliatory raid down the valley of Bothalia, The beautiful Countess Olga (Miss Bessie Barriscale) disguised as a nun is instructed by her brother to detain Prince Boris until troops can be brought up to ell'eet his capture. The prince ultimately discovers that the nun is none other than Olga, whose picture he had seen and become enraptured with. Olga is instrumental in the prince's capture, but later when she learns that he is to be shot she is filled with remorse that is awakened by the discovery that she loves him. Olga aids the prince to escape, and later on when she is about to be committed to a nunnery by her father's orders the prince effects her rescue. The first part of the programme comprises "Pathe Gazette" (No. 37P>B), "Physical Education" (Pathe scientific), "When Flowerhtnd Awakes in Japan" (Pathe) and "Mutt and Jeff in a Hospital" (comic cartoon).
