A communique reports: The Alpiners "climbed a precipice on Mount Canriol and captured a strong summit 7728 feet high, killing nearly all the Tyrolese and Alpine defenders, and taking the remnant prisoners. The infantry continued the attack on the east of Valonne. The left wing captured the Sancrado height from a strong garrison. ' " ENEMY LINES RUSHED. 2200 PRISONERS TAKEN. Received Sept. 17, 5.5 p.m. Rome, .Sept. 10. Am Italian communique states: The micceis on Friday was achieved under thgr'worst weather conditions. The artillery heavily shelled the enemy lines gp&t of (Sorizia to *the sea, despite the thick mist rendering observation difficult. Towards mid-day the mist thinned, and the enemy's lines being visible the bombardment was intensified. It is still impossible to.use aircraft to observe the effect, and the infantry were accordingly gent forward for that purpose. They discovered several new lines of entanglements in hedges and undergrowth. Further bombardment was necessary before 1 the main attaek at three o'clock in the afternoon. Explosive tubes made enlarged gaps in the entanglements, and them, in torrential rain that inundated the ground the infantry rushed the enemy ylines iast of Valonne, and ascended the slopes and crest, whereof the .'Austrians strongly defended what was constituting their chief line of defence.
