Sydney, Sept. 15. Tho Actuarial iSociety has compiled statistics for presentation to the State Governments, showing the advantages of daylight saving. It is claimed that, besides facilitating the training of citizen soldiers and benefiting the physique, general health and welfare of the community, it would effect a saving of at least' il 140,009 per annum in lighting expenses in the Commonwealth. iWHEAT TRANSPORT. Melbourne, Sept. 15. Mr. Hughes states that 500 ships have been accepted for the carrying of wheat, with an aggregate tonnage of 1,400,000 tons. NOTE FORGER SENTENCED. , , Melbourne, Sept. 15. Robert Roberts, convicted of having uttered forged Commonwealth £a<notes and having others in his possession, was sentenced to nine years' imprisonment. Myrtle McDonald, on a charge of uttering notes,, was sentenced to two and a half years' imprisonment.
