'A WIDESPREAD PLOT. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, September 12. Evidence is accumulating of a widespread plot to start a series of serious fires in city and suburban establishments. Over the week-end another outbreak was notified in a drapery store at Newtown under similar circumstances. The police believe that parcels of chemically treated cotton waste are prepared on the time .principle, and planted with the intention of stai'ting fires after the establishment has closed on Saturday. Fortunately the plans miscarried, the outbreaks being discovered before they obtained a hold. Foreigners are suspected. There is no due.
