MINISTER KEPT BUSY; By Telegraph.—Press Association. Taumaruuui, Yesterday.. .The Minister for Public Works'arrived yesterday morning and sat all day and late in the evening taking a record number of deputations introduced by Mr. R. W. Smith, M.P., who acted for himself and Mr. Jennings, M.P.. who was absrti't through his wife's illness. Deputations were received from Kaitioke, Ohurn and Waimarino Counties, Tanmarnnni Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce, Kakahi Ratepayers' Association, the Owhango Settlers' Association and West Taupo Settlers' Association.
The Minister promised to call tenders for the Wanganui trtrilic bridge at Taumarnnui, also to start protective works in the river at once. He stated he was proclaiming a hospital site in the borough and a competent engineer would report on the Wanganui waterway.
The deputations chiefly asked for roads. *
Yesterday afternoon, during an adjournment, the Minister motored to Manunui and officially turned on the new high pressure water supply to the town from the borough main. The Minister left to-day for Rotoiua.
