The play is stylishly mounted, and the costuming is an outstanding feature. Hiss Adele Blood, who plays the leading character, gives a fine impersonation. According to the plot Wilforcl Barslcy and Paul La France are poor but ambitions artists. Barslev's work is hopelessly mediocre, but in Paul burns the fire'of artist'id genius. Barslcy can sell none of his paintings, and his wealthy i.ncle is bis sole means of support, in desperation over his failure to produce real work of art he prays to the devil to give him the three things he desirc-s—fame, wealth and love. Paul hides his dire poverty from Helen, his ' sweetheart, writing her of the fictitious sale of several paintings, while in reality lie is slowly starving to death. Barsley visits Paul and finds him delirious. He is prompted by the devil to steal Paul's paintings and palm them off as his own, thus he obtains riches and' fame. Helen becomes a famous singer. .She has never met Barsley, but at his exhibition she recognises Paul's pictures. She determines to solve the mystery, and in the end plunges the hypocrite into bankruptcy. She locates Paul in a sanitorium. His memory is gone, but the sight of her restores it and the play ends in a happy manner. The supporting programme includes the "'Topical Budget," a pretty Ambrosia scenic, "In the Italian Tyrol." and a Vitagraph comedy. "Ghosts and Flypaper," which is very laughable. This exceptional attraction will be screened again to-night for the last occasion. The management announce a big double attraction for next Saturday when two world famed artists will appear in the persons of Charles Chaplin in a whirlwind comedy and Miss Viola Dana in "The Innocence of Ruth." There will be two performances on Saturday, the afternoon commencing at 2 p.m. and the evening session at 8 p.m.
