BRIGANDAGE, GERMAN RAID ON BELGIAN BANK. PLUCKY BANK DIRECTORS DEPORTED, GERMAN FINANCIAL STRESS Received Sept. 13, 12.15 a.m. Amsterdam, September 11. Germany has seized thirty millions sterling from the coffers of the Belgian National Bank. Site offered to pay 5 per cent, interest and to repay 'the money two years after the close of the war. Amsterdam. Sept. 12. The £.30,000,000 Horr von Hissing confiscated represents the amount .put into circulation in Belgium in consequence of lifting the moratorium. Von Biasing decided on this six months ago, apparently for the express purpose of annexing the proceeds for war purposes. It is a note■worthy act of brigandage, and coincides with the unsuccessful, issue of tihe war loan, Berlin, Sept 12. T a directors of the National Bank of Belgium refused to sanction the robbery and were deported to Germany. EFFECT OF GERMAN DESERTIONS. Received Sept. 12, 9,30 p.m. Amsterdam, Sept. 12. Apparently owing to continued desertions the Germans are evacuating villages on the Belgian-Dutch frontier.
