The following prices were realised for the fleece portions of the New Zealand clips named:—Morven Hills, top lSd l , average 17% d; "E.W.," 17d and 10% d. Cheese. —An announcement ihas been posted in the Produce Exchange that the Government is considering the high price of cheese, and is seeking a remedy. The Government may fix a maximum price, or control the whole available supply, or requisition sufficient for Army demands. The announcement has brought the trade to a standstill. Wheat.—Firm, with little business doing. Chicago December options liofi% cents, May 157% cents. Hemp.—Quiet, and unchanged. Copra.—September-October, £2B 10s: ■Rubber.—Para 3s 4d. plantation 2s 4%d, smoked 2s 2%d. Rabbits are steady, though supplies are plentiful. Prices are well maintained. ■Frozen meat.—New Zealand mutton 9d, Australian B%d, , South American New Zealand 'and Australian lamb lOd, South American liy 2 d. Hides.—Firm, with improved demand, as permits to export light sorts are being rather more freely granted. Australian 10% d to 11% d.' Leather.—Very firm. All qualities are in strong demand. Best Australian, 20d to 22d. Basils are in small supply. First Australians 20d to 22d. London, Sept. 10. Wheat'is held for sixpence advance owing to the bullish American crop estimates. The wheat and flour afloat is '2,185,000 quarters, for the Continent, 3,035,000 quarters, Atlantic shipments 742,000 quarters, Pacific nil. The total to Europe is 1,410,000 quarters, including Russia 45,000 quarters, India 180,000 quarters. Argentine 117,000 quarters, Australasia 145,000 quarters. Wool.—All good sorts are firm, hut short and burry are neglected. There have been frequent withdrawals. To 1 date 34,280 bales have been catalogued [and 29,147 sold.
