SICKNESS IX THE CAMP. [ By Telegraph— Press Association. Wellington, September 8. Surgeon-General lleudcr.ion states that during his inspection of the Feather,stou camp on Wednesday, he found one case of meningitis. | The patient seemed to be holding his own. Tiie measles epidemic was subsiding. Fifty men at the Tauherenikau racecourse hospital were convalescent, and soon would be discharged. At the Awapiuii medical training camp there were half-a-dozen men suffering from minor troubles. The medical unit? had a field day, when excellent work was done in field medical aid work. Half of the 19th Reinforcements, A. B, C and D Companies, returned to Tauherenikau from Trentham, having apparently benefited by the c'hange. The balance of the inths have gone down to Trentham for shooting. Two cases of suspected meningitis are reported iron. Trentham, one being serious. A REGISTRATION DEMONSTRATION Dannevirke, Sept. 9. A striking demonstration was made last evening by the marcii of eligibles in support of registration under the Military Service Aet. The Recruiting: Committee proposed a parade of men in the district of military age, the local bodies, Friendly Societies, and military and civil organisations, making an impressive procession. The town was crowded, and the greatest enthusiasm prevailed. A striking feature of the procession was a large group of fathers of boys at the front, led by Mr. F. Whaler, a local bootmaker, with six sons at the front, and Mr. P. Ericksen, with seven sons in I'niform. The march was witnessed by the Hon. W. H. Herrics, who subsequently addressed a public meeting in the • Town Hall, explaining the necessity for enrolment and obligations under the Military Service Act. He stated that the Government's intention was to carry it out in its entirety, and publicly thanked, on behalf of the Government, the recruiting committees of the Dominion for their whole hearted support of the Government, when, without new assistance, the Government's efforts would have failed.
