Good Templar Mall, the building being again packed, lie had a fine squad of subjects on the stage, and the audience was kept in continuous shrieks of laughter. The "star" item was "The Retreat of the Germans,'' perhaps the most marvellous one of his Xew Plymouth season. Some little time was again given to mental telepathy, bis lady subject being successful in every test submitted. The 'Professor could have filled a bigger hall, had such been available, on each night in New Plymouth, and a warm welcome awaits him if he re-visits here. Workmen in the Taranaki Motor Transport Company's garage, and residents in the vicinity, thought for a second or two that tlhey were" bring strafed by -a Hun howitzer shortly before noon on Saturday. One of the men was endeavoring to remove a piece of .piping from an empty benzine cylinder, which had not been in use for more than two months, and had heated a soldering iron foi tlie purpose. As he placed the iron to t'he tank the explosion occurred. There was a thunderous roar, and Mien a ball of fire shot forth. One end (about 51b in weight) of the tank was projected right through the corrugated iron wall of the building, and the other end was sent throug'h the door, while the. tank, which was originally square, looked like a dilapidated Zeppelin as a result of the concussion. A number of windows were broken, but fortunately no person was injured, though the workman, who lucki,iy happened to be standing at the side ! of the cylinder, was blown off his feet and thrown down by the force of the concussion. Miss Myrtle flonzale had many dangerous and exciting experiences 'during the production of the "blue ribbon" feature picture, "The Chalice of Courage." The voyage wa>s also disastrous, for Myrtle got into the main wash and went flying over rocks and snag* instead of being borne by a minor current down a safer passage. Rigjit in this very spot, two year's ago. a film actress, doing precisely t'iic same thing, was drowned, together with the camera man who went to her asistance. It was thus quite* an easy matter for Myrtle to enact the role of a half-drowned and exhausted girl being assisted to the bank by her rescuer.
