Mi. J. Duggan, member of the Dominion Council of the New Zealand Catholic Federation will arrive in New Plymouth this evening. Among the names appearing in the casualty list published yesterday waa that of Sapper James Heid, of Stratford, who was wounded on August 23. Wo regret to have to record the deatli pf Miss Mary Reeve, daughter of Mrs. and the lute Richard Reeve, old residents of Hawera, which took place on Tuesday, after a lingering illness. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Friday) at 1.30 p.m. at Hawera. The Rev. A. B. Chappcl! left by day's express for Palmeuton, where he will be engaged as a member of a commission of investigation into the policy of tin; Maori misison work of the NewZealand Methodist Church. The death of Mr. W. A. McKay, sen., took place at the residence of his son, Mr. ,]. S. McKay, Manaia, on Saturday night. He had lived to the ripe age of 89 years, and was a very old settler in the district. The Wanganui College trustees have appointed Professor Marshall, of Dnnedin. to succeed Mr. tltigli Latter as headmaster of the College. Professor Marshall was educated at the Wnngamti College, where he was captain of the cricket and football teams, and also the head prefect. Thereafter he studied at Canterbury College, where his career was one of unusual brilliance! He secured, in addition to the M.A. and B.Sa., nil Exhibition in Natural Science for three years, and also the N.Z. Senior Scholarship in that subject. Later he took the degree of D.Se.
