ENEMY ACTIVELY PRESSED. GENERAL ENVELOPING MOVEMENT. Received Sept. 4, {>.35 p.m. London, Sept. 3. General Smuts on Saturday reported that the pursuit of the enemy is being actively pressed in tbe Ulgurti mountains. ' Despite the heavy rainfall destroying bridges and roads they frustrated the enemy's intention to offer a prolonged resistance with a view to gaining time for the organisation of their eventual retreat further southward. Our mounted® westward of the mountains are advancing towards Maluilaua an'' Kissuki, taking prisoner many small parties, and capturing one gun. Colonei Van del- Venters strong detachments are moving on Kilossi. Southward General Northev's column is *dvaneing on Iringa; General Cupembe is advancing eastwards towards Mahenge upon the coast.
