THE SKEFFINGTON INQUIRY. By Cable—Press Aasocia l ion—Copyright. London, August 31. In the Skeffington inquiry, evidence was given hy Lieut. Robbin that be sent a- messenger to the adjutant that Colthurst intended removing the prisoners from the guard-room for execution. The adjutant sent a message that they must not be removed, but the messenger arrived as the shots rang out. THE INQUIRY CLOSED. Received Sept. 1, 0.10 p.m. London, August 31. At the Skeffington inquiry, Lieutenant Dobbin, who is 19 years of age, replying to the chairman, said he did not Jefend the prisoners because Colthurst was his superior officer, but he Vas not actually ordered to give them up. Colthurst simply said he wanted the prisoners and took them. Witness knew that Colthurst was doing wrong, but was not in a position to say so to n superior officer. He admitted he heard rumor that Colthurst had previously shot a boy n the street. The inquiry has closed. •
