Minor operations enabled us to progress southward of Estrces, and also south-west of Soyecourt wood. i A GERMAN LOSS ADMITTED. Reuter Service. / Received Sept. 1, 10.50 p.m. Amsterdam, Sept. 1. To night's German communique, the fhvt signed by General von Ludendorff (th.s new chief of the Field Army), admits that yesterday the Germans lost the salient jutting towards Martinpuich. GERMANS LOSE A TRENCH. London, Augut 31. A German communique says: Near Roelincourt we lost ?. trench which projected towards the enemy. MILITARY PRISONERS Paris, August 31. Senor Rholt, the Spanish Ambassador, is negotiating for French civilian prisoners who are working in Courland to be returned to the internment camps in Germany. It is hoped a similar concession will be made in the case of mi|itary prisoners.
