HAWERA MAN IN TROUBLE. By Te'egrnpli,—Press Association. Wanganui, Laat Night.* As a eequel to a young woman' 3 death in the Wanganui Hospital, Richard Patrick Pollard, formerly recruiting o/heer to the Defence Forces, at Hawera, was charged at the Supreme Court today, before Mr. Justice Edwards, with the illegal use *f an instrument wtyh intent to procure a miscarriage. The prosecution relied on deceased's depositions, which stated that the operation wis performed bvta strange man at the bedroom of the Dominion Hotel, Hawera, usually occupied by another Defence Officer aijd a companion of accused. The d6fenre;yra that accused was no party to tMkpmtiftn. ; The jury disagreed. A fresh trial was ordered.
