THAMES LIGHT SUPPLY CUT OFF. j _ Thames August 25, A serious fire occurred at" 8.30 last night ill tlie electric power-house, the interior being damaged. The town was plunged in darkness. It is supposed tho' outbreak occurred through spontaneous combustion in the apparatus for warming the petroleum supply to the Diesel _ engine which 'generates the electricity. Th,v brigade worked well, and the flic was soon under control. The building, which is of brick, was 'ittle damaged, and the machinery was unharmed. Light was restored to the houses before midnight. The insurances are: Building. £IOOO in the State office; contents, £6500 in the South British. Not much loss will be sustained..
