STUBBORN SWEDEN. PRECIS OF CORRESPONDENCE. London, August 24. In the Anglo-Swedish correspondence regarding the mails, Viscount Grey pointed out that while Sweden continued to detain the parcel mail she kept aiiglifc smouldering irritation which might cause serious difficulties. Viscount Grey, on April 25, offered post-war arbitration if Sweden found the Prize Court decisions unsatisfactory, but Sweden only agreed to submit the present case to arbitration, threatening counter measures if further cases urose.,, Viscount Grey refused to allow the case to be'regarded as a test case on the whole British naval policy and refused to promise any limitation of futu.ro act on. Viscount Grey, on June 19, informed Sweden, that as satisfaction had not been received Britain demanded immtdinte release of the mail, and also noijfied that she would claim damages, but Sw<dfn repeated the refusal to resume tile transmission of postal parcels generally. ? Viscount ti-cy then notified the withdrawal of all arbitration offers'and formally claimed damages, a]so additional damages under the requirements of international comity. Swollen on July 24 replied pointing out that consignments to Russia had ceased for several months because Britain was using other routes, and agreeing not to retaliate for the British incisures taken to date, also requesting a renewal of the arbitration negotiations. The correspondence closes with Viscount Grey's offer to keep the arbitration offer open so long us Sweden forwarded parcels in a regular way, also [asking a statement of Sweden's intentions on this point. " •
