ANNUAL MEETING!. The annual meeting of the above company was held in tin- Uranii Hall on Tuesday, Mr. S. Topless (chairman of directors) presiding. The report stated:—ln presenting the nineteenth annual report and balancesheet your directors can only again say that the season has been a most successful one. Though the quantity of milk and cream decreased as from the previous year, due to the advent oi a cheese factory where a creamery had previously existed, the amount paid out to suppliers i'. a material advance on anything paid out in the past, and apparently there are good prospect.- for the coming year. The milk supplied for the manufacture of cusein increased considerably on the 1915 season, clue to the better price, and as tnere is a still further advance this year tliere will"probably be a still further supply. Casein manufacture is worth nursing. During the currency of the year Mr. S. Elliot resigned his position as chairman of directors after an uninterrupted term of 17 years. Mr. H. It. Furdie was appointed to take bis place on the directorate. The balance for distribution allows a further payment of 4'/>d per lb of butter-fat for the months of September to January, inclusive. During the year payments were as follows: May anil August H'/bd, June )od, July lid, September to January 13d, February, March and April 13d. The following is a comparison with last year's returns: Milk, (1015) 6,128,082, (JDlfl) 3,5.50,702. Butter-fat, (1015) 519,918, (1910) 455.300. Butter, (1915) 010.228. (1916) 540,535. Advances, £24,483 is lid (1915), £20,025 18s 9d (1910). Bonus, (1915) £4OSS 8s lid, (1910) £5817 19s 4d. Cream supplied increased from 729,988 to 784.447 lb. The retiring directors are Messrs A. Smith and OS. W. Rodgers, both of whom are eligible for re-election. You may also be asked to fill the vacancy mused by the resignation of Mr. Harris. The report was adopted. Messrs Rodgers, Herbert, and Harris were elected to the vacancies on the directorate. It was resolved that trie chairman's fee for the yeai be £25, and the direc tars' fee 10s' each meeting as hitherto. Mr. Percival was reappointed auditor. A discussion took place on the vexed question of share capital and shares, as well as in regard to the question ol making an extra payment to suppliers who go in for home separation and send cream to the factory instead of milk. The first-named matter was left practically where it started, while in regard to the'sccond it was decided that a settlement be arrived at by the directors on a radius basis. There was also a long diwussion on toe maintenance of the Waipapa Creamery, anil as the suppliers said sufficient cows were forthcoming to warrant the installation of a two-vat plant for casein, IK was resolved that the directors be recommended to put in such a plant on being satisfied about the requisite plyIt was decided that the company's contribution to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund and Belgian Fund be continued on the s.iime basis as last year, the amount received to be credited to the various brandies of the ifatriotic League accord ing to the locality of the supplier?. Mr. J. C'onnett addressed the meeting on Taranaki A. and Y. Association, and the majority of the suppliers agreed to remain mer.'.bers, the £1 fee to be deducted from their milk cheque. AX APPRECIATION PRESENTATION* TO ME. S. ELLIOT. At the annual meeting of the North Taranaki Dairy Factory Company on Tuesday, at Urenui. Mr. S. Topless (chairman of directors) said he had quite a pleasant duty to tarry out. and that was to present, on bekalf of the suppliers to one who was rightly called "the 'father of the company," a gold vratch and chain. He referred to Mr. S. Elliot, who was chairman of directors for so many years. In the early days the suppliers 'often met with no prospect of a bonus; indeed, more than once t'he\\ had to make refunds. During these" times of stress Mr. Elliot had to use his private purse to finance the oompaiiv. He actually paid into the bank so that the company could distribute its monthly cheques. A man like Um, who could stick to a company through its trying days was a credit to the district. A supplier: "He is one in a thousand." The chairman, continuing, said lie was iiorry Mr. S. Elliot was not .present, ami lie asked his son, Percy, to accept the watch for his father. Mi. Percy Elliot briefly returned thanks for the handsome gift. The watch is inscribed: '"Presented to Mr. Samuel Elliot by the suppliers oi the North Taranaki Dairy Factory Company as a token of appreciation of his 17 years' continuous capable chairmanship—ls9B—l'Jl's."—Mail.
