T AM TARTS FOR SOLDIERS.
To the Editor. Sir,—ln yours a week ago there appeared a comment by one speaker at a patriotic meeting that our returned soldiers should not be offered jam tarts. Translated, this parable reads] according to the remarks made, that there is no need to eulogist our returned men. Now. I beg to differ from this spirit, as those, who cannot go themselves should strain every effort to s'how their gratefulness. One touch of sorrow makes us all akin, aid only those who have lost someone near and dear to them or have relatives fighting can feel with warm hearts for the soldier lads. Before this dreadful war is over there will be many, many likewarm people whose 'hearts will be touched. When the Military Bill is in full swing, the eligible young man who has hitherto dodged enlisting will have to face the music, and when he comes back let us meet 'him with mctarjjioric jam tarts, and thus publicly testify our appreciation.—l am, etc., KOMATCJ.
