ANZAC STATESMEN OUT FOR BUSINESS.
MANY MATTERS TO BE CLEARED. London, July Tremendous applause greeted tl'.e remarks of the Hon. Sir .Tames Carreil. late of the New Zealand Ministry, when he announced to a distinguished gathering of statesmen and others at the Mansion House last night that, while the overseas Parliamentary delegates have not come to England to find fault with Downing street, they are all determined upon one thing, and that is that some definite programme should be decided upon before they return home regarding certain aspects of the relations now existing between the IJonie and Overseas Governments. A number of matter*, he agreed, would have, to remain as they are until after the war. But there arc also matters affecting the immediate future policy of the Government, for the conduct of the war and proposals o f peace, which are of supreme importance to the dominions, and in which they niv entitled to be heard. \So far, said Sii James, the visiting delegates haw: nut with every encouragement. Sir Charles Wakefield, the Lord Mayor of London, who dined the overseas delegates at the Mansion House, in welcoming the Parliamentarians, said it would have been impossible to offer the city's hospitality to the visitors. after the magnificent mannei ill which they had responded to the Empire's call. The Hon. Lewis Harcourt, ex-Colonial Secretary, also spoke. "We welcome you," lie concluded, "as brothers in arms, and it will be one of our proudest moments when the various representatives of the. dominions meet again with a view to. placing the fabric of our Empire upon a solid and satisfactory basis."
