I.W.W.'S "GO-SLOW" POLICY. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, August 23. Mr. Ilolman, replying to questions regarding the I.W.W, and "go-slow" policy, said that the small membership of these organisations wa s a sufficient reason against any action being taken by the Government. Perhaps the best policy would be to let the organisation run its own course whilst it kept within the law. Government action might advertise its doings and exaggerate the importance of a little organisation. IMMIGRATION RESTRICTIONS BILL. Washington, August 22. There is a split among the Democratic party over the Immigration Restrictions Bill, which tlw caucus decided not to discuss this session. A section of the Democrats, with the aid of the Republicans, want a definite clause exj eluding Japanese coolies.

The Attorni y-General has decided to permit the sale of beer, containing not more than two per cent, proof spirit, any time in shops open for trade. REPATRIATION DAY. Received August 23, 9.40 p.m. Sydney, August 23. October. 27th lias been fixed for Repatriation Day, when i public appeal will be made foi funds. DUTY ON PUBLICATIONS. Received August 23, f1.40 p.m. Melbourne, August 23. Eminent novelists and authors have formed a guild to protect their interests, and decided to urge the imposition of a duty on imported publications other than technical and educational works.
