WELLINGTON SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Thomas Downey, convicted of stealing money and articles from the clothes of three soldiers staying at a private hotel in the city, was sentenced to four months' hard labor. Gerald de Mey, a farmer of Te I-loro, claimed the sum of £2001) from Percy Gillies, also a farmer, for alleged malicious prosecution. Plaintiff complained that defendant had maliciously secured the issuance of a warrant from the police to search plaintiff's farm for sheep which belonged to defendant and which it had been alleged or suggested was stolen by plaintiff. On the sheep being mustered on plaintiff's property, e"" was found which defendant claimed S't> sequently Gillies instituted ciiminal proceedings, charging De Mey with stealing slmcp valued at 80s. The Magistrate desired a charge for the defence in the present action. Malice wa9 denied, After hearing evidence, the judge nonsuited plaintiff. Notice of appeal was given.
