TURF TOriCS. (By "Moturoa.") Mr. Geo. Morse's weights for the North Taranaki Hunt Club meeting should give general, satisfaction, though in several J aces it must have puzzled the handicapper to bring a few good horses, and a bigger number of moderates together in proper shape. Acceptances for all events close on Saturday, August 20, at 9 p.m. As expected, Expedition tops the handicap in the North Taranaki Hunt Club Cup, but with 12.8 it cannot be said that the Waverley horse- is overweighted. The Wanganui-Waverley Hunt Club Cup winner, Argo, follows with 11.8, at which weight Expedition—if as fit as last year—appears to have a slight pull in the weights. Utility, Warea, and Captain Dick are on the 11.4 mark, and. most people will prefer Captain Dick. The lesser lights include several promising horses, and the rice should be the best of the meeting. Lord Multifid, the "boom horse" of a couple of seasons back, is awarded 11.12 in the Waihi Hack Race. He is a difficult propostion to deal with. If 11 r. Morse had sized him up as the 'Stralian weight adjusters did, it would have been a case of "owner up." Lord Multifid only won one race after all, and it was only a moderate handicap. He has been off t.he scene for some time, and has yet to prove his ability to ''come back." Probnbiy most sports will consider the horse is well treated. It may be so, but Gulden Grafton 10.11 (in the same stable), Paraoa 10.0, and Antwerp 0.9 will all have friends. Bivouac and Munition head a very ordinary lot in the Stratford Hack Handicap, and Golden Grafton stands alone in the Urenui Hack Handicap. This trio will have a big following if saddled up on the 31st. The minor hunters' events should bring out good fields. Eegio, Warea, and Cornice are not over-weighted in the Hunters' Flat Race, i Cornice and Union Jack read as well as anything in a good field in the Lepperton Hurdles, and Union Jack and Warea in the Ladies' Bracelet Steeplechase.
