CITIZENS' BAND.

THE FIFTEENTH MAN ENLISTED. Yesterday's recital by the Citizens Band had to be abandoned owing to the heavy rain. Tho members of the band met, however, at the bandroom in Molesworth Street, where a presentation was made to Bandsman Mason. The Bandmaster (Mr. F. W. 0. McLeod) aoted is spokesman on behalf of the bandsmen, and made refrence to Bandsman Mason's sterling qualities as a player, and also his faithful attendance at rehearsals, etc. He wished the young soldier a safe passage to his destination, ar;d trusted they would have the pleasure of welcominfc him back to New Plymouth strong and well. He also urged the young man to "keep his eyes open" while on his journey ings, because "travel" was one of the very best means of education a person could possibly obtain. The conductor then handed Bandsman Mason a Jieat little wristlet watch, suitably inscribed, and mentioned that it had been the intention of his comrades to make the presentation in the presence of the general public, but the weather had frustrated their plans. He wished him all success. The recipient returned thanks to the members for their gift, and assured them that it would constantly remind him of his old associates in New Plymouth. He was looking forward to the time when he would be able to return to his people, and hoped the bandmaster would find a place for him in the Band again. Bandsman Mason leaves on his return to camp by the mall train this morning, and it might also interest our readers to know that he is the "fiftenth" player connected with the New Plymouth Band to enlist since the outbreak of war—a record of which the members are justly proud.
