WAR LOAN PROSPECTUS ISSUED.
''SMALL INVESTMENTS ENCOURAGED
The (lovernment of New Zealand asks the people to lend it £3,000,000 for war purposes. The prospectus of the loan is advertised in the News to-day. The following are the main points:— The rate of interest will be 4>/ 2 per lent. free of New Zealand income tax. The loan will be issued at par. The term of the loan will be 14 years ,Or 25 years.
I'orms of application may be obtained and lodgments made at any postal money-order office, at any bank, or at the Treasury ollices, Wellington. Lodgments will be made as follows: 25 per went, deposit to accompany application, f!5 per cent. 2nd October, 1910, 25 per Mnt. Ist December, 1910, 25 per cent. Ist February, 1917. Special inducements are offered to small investors. No bond will be issued for less than £SO, but small investors may subscribe sums of £1 up to £SO at the Post Office. The Minister will issue ccrtilicatcs of the denomination of £1 and £lO, and these will be sold at tho rate of 10s for each £l. At the end of live years each certificate will be re-purchased from the holder for £l, the difference of 4s representing compound interest at the. rate of 4% per cent, on the amount originally paid for the certificate. No payments of interest will be made during the period oil the certificate, the whole sum accrued being paid in one amount at maturity. The rate of interest is tho same as on the war bonds. The certificates will be payable to bearer, and may, therefore, be sold or transferred. Applications for certificates will be received at any money .order office. . Applications for the loan close on 'August 21.
