The Union Company has received advice that the liamona left Edithburg, Soutli Australia, yesterday morning for New Plymouth, via Timaru. Probably her cargo consists of salt and gypsum. NOTES, - AN UNUSUAL JOB. A* big lightering job is to be performed in the stream at Wellington by the W. R. Grace and Co.,'s steamer Cacique, due at that port about next Friday from New York via Panama. As the vessel has 800. tons of explosives for Sydney, and the Harbor Board regulations preclude it from berthing at Wellington while the explosives are on board, the Cacique will lighter her 3000 tons of general cargo in the stream- A small fleet of coastal vessels will act as lighters. TO LONDON, VIA PANAMA. An arrival at London recently of special interest to New Zealand is that of the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Remuera. • The 'vessel left Wellington on June 22 for Plymouth and I ondon, via the Panama Canal, and she holds the distinction of being the first [-assenger steamer of the line to proceed to England by this route (states an exchange).-- The time occupied on the voyage was forty-four days. The Remuera reached Panama on July 14, the 1 assag« from Wellington thus ocoupying twenty-two days. Departure was takenlrom Panama on July 16, the vessel ar- ! riving at Newport News on July 22, and sailing on July 25 for London.
