' THE CORINNA. ■ This steamer left port early on Saturday morning for south, taking 800 boxes of butter to Wellington. She proceeds to Dunedin, where she will be laid up for her annual overhaul. THE KARAMU The Karamu is dated to leave Wellington or. Wednesday for New Plymouth, bringing a general cargo. THE RARAWA. The Rarawa, which i* to undergo overhaul at Auckland,' will be replaced by the Rimu from August 10 to September 1 in the Onehunga-New Plymouth ser- . vice. , The Rimu has saloon aecommodal ion,- but not steerage. THE S.S. ADELAIDE. The Chamber of Commerce has received intimation that the Portuguese Government has instructed the Governor of Loanda to hand over the steamer . Adelaide to the British Government representative at Loanda and that the steamer will be dry docked at Capetown preparatory to resuming her voyage to Australia. Owners of cargo must take whatever steps they consider necessary in respect to insurance. SINKING OF HAUPIRI The .steamer Haupiri, reported to have been sunk in the English Channel, was sold by the Union Company last year and was taken by Captain Macdonald from Wellington to Capetown, via Albany and Durban. At the South African capital the Haupiri was taken over by her new owners, and proeeedtd thence to a French port in the Mediterranean. The Haupiri, which was originally named the Richmond, ran in the Island fruit trade to Auckland for some years before being purchased by the Union Company. Subsequently the Haupiri ran between Wellington and Pieton in the passenger service, and afterwards in the Auckland-East Coast bays trade. She was built in 1885 by Gourlay Bros, and Co., Dundee, and was a vessel of 715 tona gross.
