JN connection with the War Regulations issued on 24th July last, it is of the utmost importance to importers that the following procr-.lure should be adopted with respect to the importation of goods from firing in foreign countries other than the United States. This will not be necessary with respect to goods shipped before the 24th October, 1910, provided that such goods were ordered prior to the 24th July, 191(i. (a.) A license to import from each such firm must be obtained from the Coinptrollor of Customs before goods are ordered. lb.) Applications for licenses, giving names and addresses of all such firms, should be promptly submitted to the Comptroller of Customs, stating in each case whether similar goods were imported from such firms before the war. (c.) Where a New Zealand importer has got into touch with a new fnu subsequent to the ontbieak of war lie should state how lie came to communicate with that Arm, and should submit any relative papers. NOTE.—Where goods are bought in foreign countries through an agent in London or elsewhere, for transmission on a through bill of lading or by direct transhipment, and the New Zealand merchant does not at present know the names of the foreign suppliers, it will be necessary that these should be obtained.
