A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held this afternoon, Mr. W. R. Ilaselden, S.M., presiding.

Percy Collins was fined 10s and costs for allowing a pony entire to wander, the Magistrate warning defendant that he would impose n. worse penalty if the nuisance was not stopped. R. Hignett was fined os and costs 7s for allowing a horse to wander.

Judgment for plaintiffs was given in the following cases:—Stratford Borough Council v W. 11. Jludford, £l3 18s '2d and costs; Cannon & Co. v. J. Robertson. £4 17s and costs; same v A. 15. Clifford, £3 5s 4d and costs; Waipa Collieries, Ltd., v. E. E. Croot, £2j 3s od and costs. GENERAL. The Stratford Croquet Club held a social last evening in order to raise funds to reinstate the pavilion that was blown down by the luih'icaue some months ago. There was a large attendance, and the progressive euchre resulted in Mrs. Boon annexing the ladies' prize, while Mr. Warner won the gentlemen's. The Egmont Club Orchestra enlivened the proceedings with several items, while vocal contributions were given by Miss Rowe and Messrs Wnito and Warner. Tile funeral of Mr. Albert Xash, which took place this afternoon, was largely attended. Mr. Nash was a son of Mr. 0. Xash, of Xash Road, and was well known and liked by all with whom he came in contact. A few weeks ago he entered the local hospital and, despite all human aid, fell a victim to cancer. Mr. Xash leaves a widow, nee Miss Wells, niece of Mr. J. Crockett, of Omata. and one child. SALE OF PEDIGREE JERSEYS. Mr. Newton King held a clearing sale of Mr. J. Belcher's (Cardiff) pedigree Jersey cattle, in his Stratford yards, to-day, there being a large attendance of outside and local buyers. Mr. R. Cottier wielded the hammer, and bidding was good. Mona's I'et brought the highest price in cows, Mr. S. Gadsby, Brook's Road, Stratford, securing her for ',' M guineas; in hulls, Belvedere Star, bought by Air. 11. Salway, of Bell Block, made •2.) guineas. The following lots were offered:—
