TIKORANGI DAIRY COMPANY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of shareholder; of tile T ikorangi Dairy Company was held in the Tikorangi Hall on Wednesday afternoon, Mr. C. Foreman, chairman of directors, presiding. ANNUAL REPORT The chairman, in moving the adoption of tiie report, which lias appeared in these columns, said that in the early part of the season, when the company had butter to dispose of, they had what tile directors considered a good offer for three months' butter, namely, h 2d, less "one per cent., and that was accepted. Later on they had another offer of Is -2</,d, less one per cent., for the balance of their output, and that too was accepted, but had they consigned they would probably have been able to pay out a little more than had been the case. Expenses were higher all round, but this was nothing more than could be expected Butter had been donated to the Belgian Fund throughout the season, and alio to the Women's Patriotic League for our men in hospital. Suppliers would have seen from Mr. Morton's address at the annual conference of the National Dairy Association that the quality of New Zealand butter generally had deteriorated somewhat. This was one of the things the dairy industry should strive to guard against, and he urged the necessity of seeing that they supplied good milk. He formally moved the adoption of the report. Mr. J. Allen seconded the motion.
In reply to questions, the chairman said the over-run last year was lS.fi. It was low, ami he could not account for it, but he did not think there was any more waste at thcii factory than at any other. So far as lie was concerned he had not heard that the company was going to pay out on cream according to grade. If the cream did not arrive at the factory in good condition it would be sent home just the same as the milk.
The report was adopted. Mr. D. Alexander, one of the retiring directors, was re-elected f<jr the ensuing year, and -Mr. J. Allen was appointed in place of Mi'. Y. W. Matthews, who did not seek re-election. Mr. \V. E. Pcrcival was re-elected auditor. GENERAL. The chairman was voted an honorarium of £l2' 10s in recognition of his services. .. On the motion ol Mr. Faull, it was decided to place on record the company's appreciation of the services of Mr. F. \V. Matthews, _who had resigned from the directorate. Mr. C. Sa'rtcn moved that in future an extra payment be made to cream suppliers. He mentioned that unless the company agreed to meet cream suppliers in this way some of them at any rate would take their cream elsewhere. Mr. YV. Foreman said that as one of the oldest suppliers of cream he considered they were well paid. He thought they should continue as at present until they were in a position to collect cream. The motion 'apsed for want of a seconder. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the directors, secretary, and staff for their services during the past year.
