Surface car traffic lias ceased, and the most serious transit blockade in the history of the city bus taken place. Seven thousand motormen and conductors have struck. The trouble is expected to extend to the steam lines. TORNADOES DESTROY WHEAT CROPS. New York, August 7. A series of tornadoes luivc devastated parts of Dakota and Wisconsin. They also destroyed upwards of twenty per cent, of the wheat crop in Manitoba. Sensational reports state that the crop being damaged was a factor in raising the price of wheat on the Canadian and American exchanges. CHOLERA OUTBREAK. Yokohama, August T. Thirty cases of cholera are reported. AUSTRALIAN WHEAT AND FLOUR. Sydney, August 7. Millers and employees have resolved to Vtrge the Government to .persuade the British authorities to accept more flour instead of wheat owing to lack of employment in the milling industry; also to urge a reduction of the selling price of wheat to enable mill owners to contract for export of flout orders. Mr. Hughes is considering all the ' British League's suggestions, to disenfranchise all alien enemies, so as to 1 prevent the possibility of their being admitted to the Legislatures' or holding positions in military or civil service, and prevent the use of the German language -.in the pulpit.
