RUA'S SENTENCE.

By Telegraph.—Press Association, Auckland, August 3. Rua was sentenced to twelve months' hard labor and tjvclve months' reformative treatment on the charge of resisting the police. Mr. Justice Chapman said that it rested with t'-e Government whether they would do anything further with regard to the charge of counselling his followers to murder, upon which the jury disagreed. The sentence is concurrent with nine months' imprisonment for sly grog-selling, which Riu was evading at the time of his arrest. The charges against Run's followers will stand over till next sitting of the Supreme Court.
