SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE WAR.
TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS It will be remembered that the first anniversary of the declaration of war was observed throughout the Empire in (he only possible fitting manner—by resolving' to see the struggle through to a satisfactory conclusion. The second anniversary occurs to-day, and Empire wide meetings have been arranged to mark the occasion in a similar manner to that which characterised the first anniversary.
Every district throughout the Dominion has been asked to hold a meeting to-day to pass a resolution which has been approved by the Riaht, Hon. H. H. Asquiih, and tiie Rt. Hon. A. Bonar Law, the two leading statesmen of Great Britain.
Tlw Mayor of Now Plymouth (Mr. C. IT. Burgess), lias invitoil the .citizens to assemble in Kobe Street, near the Courthouse to-day. at 230 p.m., when tliey will be asked to carry a resolution expressing inflexible determination to continue to a victorious end the struggle for the ideals of Liberty and Justice which are the common, sacred cause of the Allies. As many members of the hand as can conveniently attend are asked to assemble at the Courthouse at 2.30, to take part in the meeting. It. only remains for the public to attend in large numbers, and thereby add weight and value to the resolution which will he world-wide in its scope 'am! ciTect. It should not only impress the enemy, but stimulate our bra>'e sons ir the difficult, hut imperative task on which they are engaged. It ia hoped this will 'be the last time when such a resolution as the above will be needed.
