Mueli importance is ati idled to tlie i Italian capture,of Mount C'avallazza .null' Colbricli, 'with the possession of the Bri- j con Bass, a deep gorge between thorn, j which is one of the most important keys of the upper Trentino. j An oliicer points out that Italy previ- | oiislv vainlv tried for fourteen months j to batter this gate, which has fallen at last, largely as the result of trench mortars for tlie lirst time. The attack began at dawn with a furious bombardment by heavy artillery, but it was apparently a failure, as the shells had not penetrated the narrow gorges. The bombardiers were then ordered to try the new trench mortars. The first bomb was a great success, and the Bcrsaglieri, with a wild charge, captured the summit of Brieon, THE BALKANS. BULGARIANS BOMBED. Borne, August 1. A bomb explosion at Kustendil destroyed the station, killing and wounding 300 Bulgarian troops.
