SOLDIER SENTENCED FOR MAXSLAUGHTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchm'eh, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, Michael Carry, of the Kith Reinforcements, was found guilty of manslaughter of Fredcrick William Allen on July 15th, and sentenced to eighteen months'"imprison ment. Til passing sentence, Mr. Justice Ucmiistun commented 011 the fact tliiit prisoner had unjustly endeavoured to lay the blamo on deceased. Prisoner would be better fighting for his country than spending his days in gaol, but in regard to this he could only advise prisoner's friend to apply to the Government for a remission of the sentence. Prisoner luul not been found guilty of any moral turpitude*
