STARVATION IN SYRIA. CHEISTIiXS EXECUTED, Rome, July 31. Ri'tugeps give sliockins details of thisitiiiition in Syria. The Christian population is starving. Wholesale executions and atrocities commenced with Knver Pasha's visit, when Djeinal Pasha's attitude to the Christians became more hostile. Many villages have lost a third or even a half of their inhabitants from starvation, due to the food blockade. At Lebanon scores of Christian leaders were executed and exiled. Four bishops who were called up to the colors have not since been heard of. SHEREEF CAPTURES JEDDA. Cairo, July 31. Shereef has captured Jedda, the whole of the Turkish garrison dnd many guns.
