THE MANGAPEHI MURDER.
A NATIVE ARRESTED By Telegraph.—Press Association. Tc Kuiti, July 20. Kenneth Livingstone, the shepherd, and Charles Macfarlane, manager wire working at a fence and observed their whare on fire. Investigation showed that the whare had been broken in to and deliberately fired. They looked for the culprit in the bush. The Native shot Livingstone, who fell at the second shot, and hit Macfarlane, who ran for help. Three other shots hit him before the native gave up the chase. Upon help being obtained, it was found that Livingstone's liody had been dragged into the bush and another shot put through his head. The murderer, who lives seven miles from Rolleston's rode thither and, after committing the crime, shot his own horse, caught another and rode it away. Macfarlane, who is badly hurt, has j been taken to the Hamilton Hospital. All the police in the district went in search of the murderer last night, and he was arrested early this morning, and will arrive at Tc Kuiti to-night.
