Following upon voluminous correspondence in the press and many fervid protests against stifling free speech, the anti-conscriptors, despite an official warning as to possible trouble, announced that a meeting would be held in the Domain to-day. Forty thousand persons assembled, a big force of police being provided to see fair play; but the anti-conscriptors,' who had apparently an attack of "cold feet," failed to face the music, »
