FOOTBALL.

I TECHNICAL COLLEGE DEFEAT HIGH | SCHOOL. Perhaps one of .the finest games of football ever seen on the sports ground of Pukekura Park was that played between New Plymouth High School first fifteen and Technical College seniors yesterday afternoon. When the same toams met last Thursday the game ended in a draw, and it was thought by. many that the hitherto unbeaten High School team had been caught on ths i hop. Yesterday's match, however t proved that the Technical team ha<: been well schooled, and their spoiling i tactics completely nullified the effc-rM of the School backs. 1 The School backs started by thrc» ing the ball about in a hearty manner. Settling down, however, Fuller, who was playing wing forward for the blues (Technical), was instrumental in spoiling a great deal of the School back 2 play. ,The College pack. then asserted its- superiority and began a series of ' hard forward 'rushes. The collaring was [ excellent and their following up all that could be desired. The line kicking of ' 'lf. Oliver and Fenwjck was very fine in--1 deed, and completely nullified the efforts of Terry and Kuid, who appeared to be the pick of the School players. In the first spell K. Oliver scored a try for the College. Shortly after the beginning of the second spell Berg, the College half, ended a feinting rim by scoring, and 11. Oliver added the major points. From the kick-off the School attacked, but were driven back, and Lorn a free kick near the half-way line " 11. Oliver kicked a fine goal against the wind. After this play was very even, the passing of the School backs being met with rtiihes by the College forwards. From a penalty, H. Oliver again placed a lovely goal from nearly halfway. There was no further score, the College winning by 14 points to nil. i Mr. Kirk refereed.
