Under ' the treaty, which will shortly be snb- ' milted to the Danish and United States ' Parliaments, the United States would ■ secure possession of the islands of St. ' Thomas, St. John, and Santa Cruz. Washington, July 25. The British official arc gratified that the United States will probably purchase the Danish West Indian Islands as Germany was negotiating for them when the war broke out. SAN FRANCISCO BOMB OUTRAGE. London, July 25. The San Francisco bomb outrage is considered as part of a nationwide plot j against the Government. Investigations in Chicago are expected to lead to sensational disclosures. The State Department has official information that the famine in Turkey is the worst in the history of the world. i Only fifteen per cent, of the normal grain crop has been planted. When the railway was opened to Berlin, the Turkish leaders confiscated enormous masses of foodstuffs and sold them to the Germans at exhorbitant prices.
