PROPERTY OWNERS AXD WAR
LEGISLATION.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. . Wellington, Last Xight. A meeting of city property-owners tonight discussed the propose!! legislation affecting increased rents during the war, and the following resolution was adopted: ''That this meeting strongly objects to the legislation as contained in the War Legislation Amendment Bill on the ground that such legislation is inequitable and unjust." A Landlords' Association has heen formed to conserve the interests of property owners, and a deputation was appointed to interview the Premier.
PROMOTING THE WELFARE OF THE MAORIS.
Wellington, Last Night. The Minister of Public Health to-day-opened a conference with four Maori members of the House of Representatives, lions. Dr. Pomare and A. T. Ngata. and Messrs. T. Parata and Tau Hennro, to consider the best steps to be taken to promote the health and well-being of the Maori race. One of the proposals, it is understood, was to establish a general medical service for Maori districts.
