Investigation!? indicate the existence of a gigantic system of graft among the Xew York police and the white-slavers. The. grand jury returned indictments against five detectives charged with bribery, all attached to the Tenderloin district, and had been engaged in fighting the white slavers. The prosecutor premised startling disclosures.

The investigation was tlie outcome of a grand ball, for which the Tenderloiners were compelled to purchase large blocks of tickets, and it is alleged that the pelice participated in the proceeds.
