STRATFORD.

'A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.)' Stratford, Saturday. A meeting of the General Committee of Hie above Association was held in (lie Association's oflice on Saturday afternoon, Mr. E. Jackson (president), presiding. The executive reported that since the annual meeting, through the united efforts of some of the members, over 100 new names had been added to the members" register, which clearly proved that the total membership can easily be raised to 1000 before the next Show. A Sub-Committee had been set up to address shareholders at the annual meetings of the Dairy Companies near Stratford, re securing new members. Subcommittees will shortly be set up to carry out the various branches of show work. It is proposed to add several new classes to the schedule this year, notably the milking Shorthorns, which treed is getting a footing in Taranaki. One large breeder lias already expressed his intention of showing his herd at Stratford. The executive would urge farmers to exhibit as largely as possible in first-class order. The' Farm Committee, when appointed, purpose cleaning out the drains and other work, such as tree planting. The president, in moving the adoption of the report, referred with pride to the increase in membership. The various Dairy Companies had been written to, and they had sgreed to allow the Sub-committee to address the shareholders at their annual meetings, with a view of infusing increasing interest in the affairs of the Association. The recent visit to Moumahaki bad been most enjoyable and instructive, and the, • hanks of the Association were due to the officers at the farm for the kindness shown to the visitors. Sub-com-mittees would be appointed at the next executive meeting to thoroughly revise the schedule, and he hoped members and c.vhibitors would forward any suggestions for improvement. With regard to paying subscriptions, the executive had certain obligations to meet next month, and he hoped the members would ussist the committee to meet them by forwarding their subscriptions at once. <V Sub-committee would be appointed in the country districts, to get new members and exhibitors. Mr. Peterson stressed the need of everybody getting exhibits for the coming show. This year would be the most critical in the history of all A. and P Associations. If tl'iey weathered (he year the future of the' Association was assjired. Mr. Dingle said if dairy farmers would show (heir stock their was no need to bring the exhibits themselves, if they put distinguishing marks on them. A couple of drovers could bring the lot of the exhibitors from the same district. The Association had excellent paddocking accommodation, and that fact was loing to mean the success of the Association. Mr. Campbell Jackson said he thought Mr. Dingle's suggestion was a good one, especially regarding grade stock. The whole trouble \\;,s with (he yearlings, and if a mark was put on them there would be no trouble to pick out the older cattle If farmers only exhibited grade cattle, as they should do, the show pens would be filled. Mr. Linnel! said there was no doubt that many like himself knew what was Hie best cow in (he herd, but did not know what was a show beast, and if some of (he enthusiasts would give a little advice to farmers on this matter the pen s would be filled alright. The report was adopted. The following suggestions were adopted: That poultry classes be deleted from the schedule; that reserve champion ribbons be provided for all classes of stock at future shows; that in future no exhibitors or public be allowed in the., room while the home industries are being judged; that the head of all bull pens he closed in. that all calf classes be retained in the schedule, on condition that their must be six exhibitors, that a vote of thanks be accorded donors of special prizes for the coining show.
