The Victorian estate of the late Mrs. Hall, Widow of Mr. Hall, the Mount MorgtiS millionaire, has been valued at Mr. W. J. Hibberd, manager of the Uruti Dairy Factory, and formerly of Okato, has been appointed manager of the Opunake Dairy Factory.
Mr. T. Taylor, butter-maker for the North Taranaki Dairy Company, has been appointed manager to one ofOkato's branch cheese factories.
Mr. E. J. L. Whiting, telegraphist. Wanganui, has been elected unopposed to represent (he Po.-,t and Telegraph Department on the Public Service Superannuation Board,
The Times of Mav 2fi savs:—Lady Rendel, wife of Sir A.'M. Rend'el, K.C.R, died last week at C'harlwood, Surrey, aged SO. She was the only surviving child of Captain Ilobson, U.S., founder and lirst Governor of the colony (now the Dominion) of New Zealand.
Mr. W. 0. Anstis, Omata, has received cable advice (hat his son Norman E. Anstis was in the University War Hospital, Southampton, suffering from gunshot wounds in the chest. The first cable reported him dangerously ill, but a later cuhle notified that he is progressing favorably.
Private A. W. Wille.scroft. of Mokau, who came back to Xew Zealand by tlie Ulimaroa, was welcomed at Palmerston Xovtli by tlie Patriotic Committee the other day, Private WillUeroft was rather badly wounded in the leg but is making steady progress. He went on to Aslihurst for a short rest, before proceeding' to his home.
Prom information received in Wellington from England, it is ascertained that tlie Rev. James Flanagan, who some time ago conducted a mission in Xew Zealand, lias undergone a serious operation, and although tlie doctor declares that the sufferer is progressing as well as can be expected, he will never, be able to resume his work.
At the Inglewood school yesterday afternoon, Mr. R. G. Whetter, inspector of schools, who lias linen transferred to the Ilawke's Pay district, was presented with a travelling rug by the teachers of the district who have been attending the physical ''refresher" classes. Mr. D. J. Evans, headmaster of the Inglewood school, made the presentation, eulogistic remarks also being made by Miss Riordan, and Messrs Thomas and WagstafT. Mr. Whetter anticipates leaving for Napier on July lilst. liy the mail train last night several Taranaki men, who are at present in the noiu-com. camp at Trenthain, arrived here on a week-end visit. Included among them were Hugh Eraser, who has been posted to the 19th Reinforcements with the rank of sergeant, J. C. Nicholson and Chaystall, the latter having been attached to a machine-gun section. \V. ,1. Mntthews, of Inglewood, also travelled by the train as far as Hawcra.
